The amount of features The Outlawz have would be the only gripe that I have with the album, other than that it's damn near flawless. Kastro's and Young Noble's verses on Hail Mary are dope though. At times it feels like it's just an album full of When We Ride's (minus the annoying car honking instrumental). Next, I understand that The Outlawz were Pac's homies and rap group that he created, but they have too many guest spots. Tupac was very intricate when it came to how his albums were structured, he didn't want any detail to be left out. The transitions between them give you a musically cinematic experience, holding your attention. It also has one of my favorite 3 song stretches in any album with Bomb First (My Second Reply), Hail Mary and Toss It Up. You can put this joint on start to finish (with the exception of Just Like Daddy being skipped) and let it ride. This is my second favorite 2Pac album, after All Eyez on Me. Rap facts: Inspired by Nas's "I Gave You Power". It's also interesting how Pac's mother along with the original producer of this let it slide. The funny thing is that Pac told Jay to die on Bomb First but Jay still pays homage to him with the song and in the video. Six years later Kanye sampled this, it ended up being a Jay-Z song featuring Beyoncé. The interlude with the machine gun is brilliant and takes this song over the top. She's tucked in his waistband at block parties and busts on all these punk ass niggas. Clever! Over a mafioso instrumental in the vein of Bomb First and Life of an Outlaw, he spits about how his (Glock) 17 is like Brandy and just wants to be down. Here we find Makaveli comparing his 9 millimeter to a female. At random times I'll find myself singing the hook in my head. Much like Hold Ya Head, he gives reassurance that there's hope for a better life. He talks about the struggles that African Americans (most notably his sister and mother) have to go through on a daily basis. One of Makaveli's heartfelt and meaningful tracks on the album.
